Easy Steps
Should you require emergency medical treatment and wish to make use of
your TOURMED Benefits, follow the next easy steps!

Have your TOURMED Policy Certificate and Passport on hand
You will be directed to the nearest appropriate medical facility or you
will be provided with the relevant assistance you may require.
- Please contact the emergency number above before going directly to
a medical service provider eg. doctor or hospital, have your TOURMED
Policy Certificate and Passport on hand to present to the medical service
provider
- The medical service provider must call TOURMED at the above numbers
after which authorization will be given for the required treatment to be
administered.
TOURMED will then settle the claim directly with the service provider.
- If due to the nature of the emergency you are not able to call
TOURMED or supply the medical service provider with your details, the
service provider must inform TOURMED as soon as possible of the emergency
and obtain the required authorization to ensure payment for the services
they have rendered.
NB. If you do not obtain authorization, you may be
required to settle the bill yourself and TOURMED may then only reimburse
you an amount up to a maximum of R2000
- Always carry a copy of your passport and policy certificate with you where it
will be safe and easy to obtain should an emergency arise.
- Present both when requiring emergency medical treatment.
- Always where possible, ensure that the medical service provider
calls for an authorization number for the treatment to be administered.
- Forward any claims that you may have paid yourself to TOURMED for
reimbursement ;

In the event of an incident or possible HIV exposure, call the TOURMED
24-hour emergency number on your TOURMED Policy Certificate and the
immediate services of the Calibre councillors and doctors will then
co-ordinate the required PEP services.
You must initiate PEP as soon as possible, but within 72 hours after
exposure for it to be effective. All services required for PEP will be
provided as part of this policy
If you're planning a trip
or vacation in South Africa,
Botswana, Namibia,
Uganda,
Mozambique
or any other
southern
African
destination, you should not do so without a TOURMED Policy.
